De ring aan de bovenkant klap je open en doe je om een draad waar je de stroom wil meten.
Maar als je die niet hebt, dan kan je volstaan met een meting van de laadspanning, die moet tussen de 13,8 en 14,4 V liggen als je meet op de accu. Als je meet via de sigarettenaansteker in de auto (wat makkelijker als je wat wil testen in je eentje) kan de spanning wel iets onder de 13,8 V komen.
Meest waarschijnlijk is dat het grootlichtlampje doorslaat naar het laadstroomlampje.

Je kan dat testen door bijvoorbeeld het grootlichtlampje even eruit te halen, dan kan je zien of het laadstroomlampje nog steeds oplicht. Of je zet wat meer stroomverbruikers aan (achterruitverwarming/blower) en kijkt of het erger wordt. Het beste is om met een multimeter en een stroomtang te meten wat de laadspanning en laadstroom is.

Komt het voor dat het lampje voor groot licht wat licht weglekt naar het naastgelegen 'blokje', of is er toch wat anders aan de hand?
