Ben al even aan het zoeken geweest maar ik vind nog niet het antwoord op een paar van mijn vragen.

Ik heb een W123 200. Inmiddels zo’n 175.000km gelopen. Ik wil toch maar eens de distributieketting en spanner gaan vervangen. Die van mij heeft nog de enkele ketting.

Hoe worden tegenwoordig de nieuwe kettingen geleverd? Zit daar een speciaal sluitschakel bij, heb je daar nog speciaal gereedschap voor nodig. Volgens mijn Mercedes documentatie heb je daar een speciale pons oid voor nodig zo lijkt het?

gewoon de klink weg slijpen waar de distributie ketting mee aan elkaar zit.
dan de nieuwe ketting eraan vast maken.
dan de ketting door de moter heen draaien.
dan komt de nieuwe ketting vanzelf boven dan met 2 hamers de ketting weer aan elkaar klinken.

Het helpt wel als je wat assistentie hebt: een persoon om de oude ketting vast te houden, een om de nieuwe ketting erin te geleiden en een om de motor te tornen. Voor het tornen kan je de bougies verwijderen, dan gaat het niet met schokken, of je gebruikt een lange boom om de motor langzaam te draaien. Er is een speciale pons voor, maar met twee hamers gaat het ook. De MB pons is wel een mooi stukje gereedschap.

Bij het slijpen een lap over de motor leggen, dan komen er geen onderdelen in je motor.

Bedankt allemaal. Ik ga toch even op zoek naar zo’n pons.

Wel kijken dat je een open ketting koopt, een gesloten wordt ook aangeboden, deze kan je alleen plaatsen als je het distributiedeksel en de oliepan verwijdert.
Vaak wordt er bij een open ketting een visje geleverd om hem te sluiten, werkt ook prima, maar let op dat het gesloten deel van het visje in de draairichting staat..

Inmiddels alle onderdelen in huis. Heb de boel al open liggen. Ga ook nog even het stuurhuis eraf halen dus daar ook al de onderdelen voor in huis gehaald. Mercedes levert de olie voor het stuurhuis niet meer. Wat gebruiken jullie daarvoor?

Alleen voor de kettingspanner heb je een 17 mm inbus nodig. Die heb ik gisterenavond besteld. Alvast maar even de kleppen gesteld is dat ook weer gebeurd.

As maandagavond komt een vriend van me even helpen om de nieuwe ketting erin te draaien.

Succes en maak even wat foto's hè ! Dit staat mij ook nog eens te wachten, maar een monteur van de Duitse Benz garage zei ooit eens tegen me " als je de ketting niet hoort of gekke geluiden uit dienhoek hoef je je nog niet zorgen te maken.

Standaard werd er ATF gebruikt inderdaad met de specs die Govert aangeeft.
Maar Mercedes is overgestapt naar stuurbekrachtigings olie, ook op ATF basis, niet meer rood maar licht bruin van kleur.
De nieuwe ATF zorgt voor minder slijtage in het stuurhuis, heeft betere smerende eigenschhappen.
Deze olie moet de dealer wel hebben, maar kun je ook bij de diverse onderdelenshops halen.

Bedankt allemaal, ik ga eens kijken wat voor olie ik kan krijgen. Via de MB dealer kan het in ieder geval niet meer.

Gisterenavond samen met een vriend de nieuwe ketting erin gedraaid. Nieuwe kettingspanner gemonteerd.
Leek allemaal vlotjes te gaan.

We hebben nog specifiek gecontroleerd dat de nokkenas/krukas in de juist positie staan. Merkteken op nokkenas en krukas
Gecontroleerd dat de motor meerdere slagen goed rond draait voordat we hebben gestart.

Toen gestart, en hij liep ook direct. Maar maakt toch wel een hoop vreemde geluiden. Nagelt nogal, lijkt bijna wel een klep. We hebben nog een keer alle kleppen gecontroleerd, maar die stonden allemaal goed. Hoogstens een 0,05mm teveel op een enkele in- en uitlaatklep.

Heeft iemand nog ideeën/suggesties wat er anders dan timing aan de hand zou kunnen zijn.
Anders ga ik maar eens een meetklokje regelen en nog eens meten wat er aan de hand kan zijn.

Vanavond toch weer een stukje verder gekomen met de diagnose. Lijkt erop dat de ketting toch een tandje is versprongen.

Ik snap werkelijk niet hoe we dat niet hebben gezien. We hebben denk ik wel vijf keer de timing geverifieerd voor we de nieuwe ketting definitief hebben vastgeklonken!

Vanavond nog maar een gekeken. Eerst ook nog even geverifieerd dat alles bovenop olie krijgt. Maar dat was allemaal prima. Toen de nokkenas op het merkteken gezet:

Reeds bij MB een paar reserve schakels besteld. Morgen binnen. Maar vanwege mijn werk kan ik pas over anderhalve week ermee aan de gang. Denk dat het wel moet zijn. Ik snap overigens niet dat ie zo’n kabaal maakt. Als de interne timing van de motor niet klopt loopt de motor meestal gewoon heel slecht of niet (of in ergste geval slaat met een zuiger in een klep). Maar deze loopt keurig alleen met veel kabaal. We zullen zien.

Is de ketting versprongen na het aanbrengen en starten? Er staat me bij dat de kettingspanner gevuld moet worden met olie voor aanbrengen, heb je dat gedaan?

Dit lijkt het enige wat het handboek hierover zegt:

Ik Denk dat de ketting is versprongen tijdens de montage. Een vriend van mij hielp, terwijl ik de motor tornde, hield hij de ketting op spanning. Zowel de oude ketting als de nieuwe. De nokkenas heeft op gezette momenten de neiging om door te schieten. De tuimelaar staat nog steeds onde spanning en drukt op de nok.
Helemaal zeker weten doe ik het niet, maar dat vermoeden we dat het daar is misgegaan. Wat we nog steeds niet snappen is waarom het niet eerder opviel. We hebben na montage meerdere keren de merktekens gechecked en waren overtuigd dat het goed stond.

De kettingspanner heeft ook een veer, specifiek om in geval van geen oliedrum de boel op spanning te houden.

Volgende week dinsdagavond gaan we weer verder en zetten we de nokkenas/krukas weer op tijd.

Heb je de motor rondgedraaid aan de krukas of aan de nokkenas?

Als ik 4 berichten terug kijk, zie ik een dopsleutel op de krukas, dat lijkt mij het antwoord op je vraag.
