Sinds afgelopen maand mag mij W123 300TD weer de straat op, na 5 jaar stilstand. Heb ik alleen de remmen moeten vernieuwen voor de APK. Dus top.... alleen lekt die nog ergens automaat olie. Heb de bak zover schoon gemaakt aan de onderkant om te checken waar die lekt. Eerste indruk het witte ding lekt, maar wat is het? Zit aan de zijkant van de automaat aan de onder zie je hem zitten. Ik heb de boeken doorgebladerd, maar zie hem nergens staan. Ik hoop dat de foto goed is.

HoiBig, Dat zal de vacuummodulator zijn. Zit vast een membraan in wat kan scheuren en lekken. Hierdoor kan de olie via de slang ook in je inlaatspruitstuk komen.

Aaah, thanks. Dus dat is de vacuüm modulator, ben benieuwd hoe ik dit ga oplossen.

Zit er wel een vacuumslang aan, ? ik zie hem niet zo snel, alleen het rubbertje zie ik zitten.

Overigens moet ik dit ook even bij mijn eigen auto checken. Ik heb dezelfde auto en dacht te herinneren dat die altijd in zijn 2 weg reed. Maar sinds kort na 6 jaar stil stand en olie en filter verversing rijd die echt in zijn 1 weg.

Wat je ziet is wat ik heb.... waar moet deze slang naar toelopen? Op internet vind ik veel, maar geen begrijpelijke tekening/ plaatje van de automaat vacuüm systeem.

Op de brandstofpomp zit de VCV, deze regelt het vacuüm naar de bak.
De VCV wordt gevoed door de vacuümpomp, de VCV regelt de hoeveelheid vacuüm naar de bak naar gelang de stand van het gaspedaal.

De vacuüm modulator zet het vacuüm om in hydraulische (schakel)druk, veel gas (weinig vacuüm) zorgt voor een snelle, bruuske schakeling, weinig gas (hoog vacuüm) voor een soepele schakeling. Je bak zal nu met het ontbreken van het vacuüm slangetje, in alle gevallen bruusk schakelen.

De wagen heeft altijd vorst geschakeld, dus vermoed dat het al jaren zo is. Dit weekend maar eens zoeken onder de kap. Maar hoort vermoedelijk niet te lekken de modulator of wel?

Nee dat hoort inderdaad niet. Waarschijnlijk is het membraan lek.
Als je een vacuüm handpompje hebt, is dat makkelijk te constateren.

Slangetje aansluiten, uiteinde van dat slangetje in de mond, even zuigen, tong er tegen, dan weet je zo of hij blijft hangen of niks meer doet.

Ik kijk eerst ff wat een modulator kost, voordat ik aan een slangetje ga zuigen en de mond vol olie heb

Ik heb ook gekeken waar de vacuumslag gebroken is, maar zie nergens een lossen slang hangen niet van onder of van boven te zien

Of de modulator nu wel of niet is aangesloten, hij hoort niet te lekken. Gewoon een nieuwe erop en op de juiste manier aansluiten op de VCV.

Vandaag met de MB deal gesproken, blijkbaar heb ik een andere automaat erin liggen dan volgens fabriek opgave
Het zou type 722.405 moeten zijn en ik heb een 722.112 verschellingbak erin liggen, blijkbaar eentje voor de 280TE.
Moet ik nog iets ergens opletten of nieuwe modulator erop en rijden maar?

Ik ben bang dat dat nooit bevredigend gaat werken, de automaten zijn aangepast aan de motorkarakteristiek, de 280 is een benzineblok, een motor die toeren maakt, een diesel doet dat juist niet, die moet het hebben van zijn koppel bij lage toeren.

Als ik het goed lees, kan ik met een goede afstelling nog wel een eind komen met deze automaatbak...

Met de modulator is wel wat in te stellen. Je moet b.v. in de hoogste versnelling al 50 km/u kunnen rijden.

Met de modulator kun je de kwaliteit van het schakelen afstellen, het moment van schakelen gebeurd bij deze bakken met een stang aan de rechterkant van de bak, deze stang is verbonden met het gas stangen stelsel.

Gelukkig zitten de stangen erop, dus het gaat echt om de kwaliteit...

Heb vandaag de modulator laten vervangen/afstellen. Eerlijk is eerlijk, hij rijdt nu als een zonnetje. Een wereld van verschil, een werkende vacuummodulator helemaal top . Waar eerst het schakelen echt merkbaar was, is het nu goed opletten als die overgaat naar de volgende versnelling.
