Bij deze open ik ook mijn eigen logboek waarin ik zoveel mogelijk van mijn activiteiten aan mijn W123 zal archiveren. Altijd mooi als je al je activiteiten netjes op een rijtje kunt zetten en later hierop terug kan kijken

De wagen is origineel afkomstig uit Frankrijk, in 1988 is hij naar Nederland gekomen. Mercedes dealeronderhouden tot 290.000km, daarna altijd onderhouden bij een garagebedrijf. Ik ben de vierde eigenaar.

De 230E is voorzien van elektrische ramen voor, elektrische rechter spiegel, elektrische antenne, 5-bak handgeschakeld, zebrano middenconsole, stuurbekrachtiging, verstelbare koplampen, verwarmde achterruit, spiegels met verlichting in beide zonnekleppen, verlichting in achterkabine, centrale deurvergrendeling en startonderbreking.

De wagen heeft voor het oog geen roest en staat netjes in de lak. Dorpels scharnierbakken en bodem zien er goed uit zoals ik nu kan beoordelen, maar er zal vast wel ergens roest zitten . Een klein deukje in het achterscherm, maar deze valt haast niet op. Wagen is voorzien van nieuwe motorsteunen, remschijven + blokken rondom en een nieuwe radiateur.

De motor loopt erg netjes, en trilt vrijwel niet als die stationair loopt, ook de oliedruk staat boven de 2bar bij stationair toerental. Opzich wel netjes als je je bedenkt dat er intussen al 340.000km op de teller staat

Maandag ga ik een set chrome parafaanroosters ophalen en monteren, en daarna wil ik nog chrome achterlichtlijsten gaan monteren. Ik zit ook te denken aan van die luxaflex voor tegen het achterraam, maar daar moet ik nog even over nadenken.

Voor de rest ga ik volgende week het luchtfilterhuis netjes maken, nieuwe lucht- en oliefilter plaatsen + nieuwe bougies. Kost niet veel en altijd mooi als dat er iig nieuw in zit....

Gelijk beschermende wax in de holle ruimtes onder de achterlichten gespoten, dus hopen dat de roestvorming voorlopig weer achterwegen blijft

Bij het terugplaatsen van de achterlichten gelijk nieuwe rubbers geplaatst, de oude waren nog prima, maar had nieuwe bij de aankoop erbij gekregen...

Gelijk even alle chrome delen op de auto gepolijst, dus dat ziet er weer zo goed als nieuw uit.
Voor de rest heb ik van de week alvast het olie- en luchtfilter vervangen en daarbij ook alle bougies, kapotte lampjes in het dashboard vervangen en de boel eens lekker opgeschoond!

Volgende week staat het stellen van de kleppen in de planning en het opknappen van het luchtfilterhuis. Daar zal ik ook weer wat fotootjes van plaatsen.

Van het weekend heb ik mijn kleppen gesteld van de M102, was wel nodig want hier en daar week de klepspeling aardig af .Ben erg blij met het resultaat, want de motor loopt nu een stuk beter en soepeler!

Ik heb bij elke klep de nok 180graden weggedraaid van de tuimelaar en dan de klepspeling gemeten, neem aan dat dit een correcte wijze van meten is? Zo ben ik alle kleppen stuk voor stuk afgegaan...

Vanavond ga ik nog een M102 stellen, zal van die wat foto's maken en plaatsen...

Zo, van de week ook even de kleppen gesteld van de M102 van mijn maat. Ik had beloofd om hier wat foto’s van te maken, maar zoals gewoonlijk uit enthousiasme vergeten.

Om het goed te maken zal ik even kort samenvatten hoe ik de kleppen heb gesteld;
Als eerst de 3 moertjes van het luchtfilterhuis losmaken en en filterhuis wegnemen. Vervolgens de 5 moertjes van de kleppendeksel losmaken en de kleppendeksel wegnemen.

De ontstekingsvolgorde van de M102 is: 1-3-4-2 (voorste cilinder bij radiateur is cilinder 1 en de opvolgende cilinder zijn 2,3 en cilinder 4, waarbij cilinder 4 dus de cilinder is aan de kant van het schutbord (zie onderstaand plaatje))
Bij één omwenteling van het vliegwiel, en dus de nokkenas, komen alle 4 de cilinders aan de beurt.
Op het vliegwiel aan de voorkant van de motor kan dop 27 geplaatst worden om de motor rond te kunnen tornen, hierbij altijd rechtsom draaien!

Als de zuiger van cilinder 1 bovenin staat, tussen de compressie- en arbeidsslag dan staat cilinder 4 ook bovenin, maar dan tussen de uitlaat- en inlaatslag. Je kunt dit herkennen doordat bij cilinder 4 de uitlaatklep dicht gaat en daarna de inlaatklep meteen open gaat. Cilinder 4 staat dan op ‘’tuimelen’’. Door te kijken welke cilinder op tuimelen staat, kan bepaald worden welke kleppen van welke cilinder gesteld kunnen worden. De volgende volgorde moet aangehouden worden;

 Cilinder 1 tuimelt, dan kleppen stellen van cilinder 4
 Cilinder 2 tuimelt, dan kleppen stellen van cilinder 3
 Cilinder 3 tuimelt, dan kleppen stellen van cilinder 2
 Cilinder 4 tuimelt, dan kleppen stellen van cilinder 1

Bij het stellen van de kleppen moet een voelermaatje tussen de ruimte gestoken worden, zoals afgebeeld in het bovenstaande plaatje met de twee zwarte pijlen. Voor een M102 zijn de opgegeven klepspeling als volgt;

- Motor onder 50C : Inlaatkleppen 0,15mm / Uitlaatkleppen 0,30mm
- Motor tussen 60C en 80C: Inlaatkleppen 0,20mm / Uitlaatkleppen 0,35mm

Deze waardes staan meestal ook aangegeven op een stikker, links bovenop de balk onder de motorkap.
Voelermaatje tussen de klep en de tuimelaar steken en kijken of deze passing te ruim is of juist te krap. De klepspeling is goed als de voelermaat met lichte weerstand, maar wel gemakkelijk, heen en weer gehaald kan worden. Als dit niet het geval is dan moet het moertje bovenop de tuimelaar (zie rode pijl bovenstaande afbeelding) losgedraaid worden, waarna de schroef met een kruisschroevendraaier in- of uitgedraaid kan worden. De schroef regelt de klepspeling en de moer borgt de schroef. Zowel de inlaat- als de uitlaatklep van de zelfde cilinder, kunnen op het zelfde moment gesteld worden.

Als alle kleppen gesteld zijn kan de kleppendeksel weer gemonteerd worden. Hierbij de moertjes van voor naar achter vastdraaien, in stapjes van 3Nm, naar het totaal aanhaalmoment van 15Nm.
Dan weer het filterhuis monteren, niet vergeten de rubber slang aan de onderkant te monteren op het huis... , hierbij ook uitkijken dat deze slang niet losraakt op de andere twee verbindingspunten. Als laatst nog even de boel een beetje mooi schoon poetsen en klaar is kees!

Vorige week was mn wieldop helaas gejat , baalde wel, want de doppen op mijn W123 zijn erg netjes. lopen zoeken naar een mooie blauwe vervanger, maar zou natuurlijk te makkelijk zijn als je daar precies één van vind

Dus even mp afgestruind en kwam al gauw een hele mooie ongespoten dop tegen. Geen krassen en deuken, het lijkt er op dat die nooit gebruikt is. bij de verfhandel de originele kleur laten maken, dop netjes afgeplakt, in de primer en daarna twee lagen lak er op.

Eindresultaat ben ik erg tevreden mee. Er is geen verschil te zien met de oude doppen, dus daar ben ik erg blij mee!
Nou maar hopen dat ze de doppen laten zitten, want van dat afplakken wil je zeker geen gewoonte maken

Inderdaad de W123 blijft een heerlijke wagen om te rijden, ikzelf kan vooral de ruime en comfortabele zit erg waarderen.

Mooi geworden hoor!!
Ook met die gele mistlampen, past goed bij de donkere kleur.
Mijn pa heeft destijds zijn 240D ook in deze kleur donkerblauw gespoten. Was heel mooi. Eerst had hij surfblauw gekozen maar dat was toch te licht. De sponningen waren wel al deze kleur surfbaluw en dat zijn ze ook gebeleven...
