De grille is na 33 jaar ook maar eens onder handen genomen. Nieuwe stripjes en 8 lagen antraciet-grijs over het plastic.

Rooster zit er weer netjes bij. Hoe ben je te werk gegaan? Heb je het rooster eruit gehaald en wat voor verf heb je gebruikt?

Bedankt JeePee! Ik heb de complete grill gedemonteerd, die zit met 6! bouten vast aan de motorkap. Twee daarvan zijn wat lastig te zien, die zitten helemaal verzonken in de binnenkant van de motorkap. Vervolgens alles gedemonteerd van de grill (behalve de grote ster, die kan blijven zitten). Het plastic rooster verwijderd, oude strippen eraf geschoven. Rooster met korrel 1000 licht opgeschuurd (nat) en gespoten met donkergrijze (antraciet) verf. Je kunt m zo donker maken als dat je zelf wilt, houd er echter rekening mee dat het er lichter uit zal zien als op de dop van de fles. Het lijkt wel alsof het plastic heel veel absorbeert. Enfin, het resultaat is eigenlijk perfect vind ik zelf, had het iets donkerder verwacht, maar zo is het eigenlijk lekker origineel met een wat blauwige tint erin. Je kunt ook een nieuwe kopen bij de dealer (~€50). Ik heb er in ieder geval 2 spuitbussen voor nodig gehad (400 ML P/s). Maar goed, dat kan ook mijn onkunde zijn. Het zit er nu in ieder geval lekker dik op.

De aluminium stripjes en MB-embleem kun je bij de dealer halen, nadeel van de stripjes is, dat ze voor de W116 zijn en dat je ze dus op maat moet slijpen/zagen. Ook hier opletten, niet alle strippen zijn even lang. 6 horizontale + 1 verticale was ook iets van €50 dacht ik.

En ook de kleppies staan weer netjes op 0.10 en 0.25. Eerste keer van m'n leven kleppen gesteld, nou... Dat stelt echt niet veel voor zeg! Al met al een 1.5 uur bezig geweest. Kan vast en zeker sneller, maar goed.

Meteen de kans gepakt om de pakking te vervangen en te checken hoe de ketting er aan toe is. Bij koude start wil er namelijk het nodige aan getik uit die hoek komen.

Kettingstatus is gelukkig goed, sterker nog... Het lijkt wel alsof het ding nieuw is. De rek is misschien 1/2 graden. Iemand nog ideeën/tips mbt tikken bij koude motor?

Mooie coupe Robin, echt prachtig.

Erg netjes ook zoals je hem (nog) beter maakt .

Kleppen stellen is best leuk, en als je het voor de eerste keer doet is die tijd heel normaal. Daarbij als je niet het speciale gereedschap hebt ben je ook nog wel iets langer bezig natuurlijk.

Tikken bij een koude motor? Dat ligt een beetje ook aan de tik. Ik ken het tikken wel bij mijn oudere station diesel (niet de TDT) maar dat is met die diesels. Onze 280CE tikt geheel niet als ie koud is.

Ik doe m'n best haha, ben niet echt een gevorderde sleutelaar, dus de meeste werkzaamheden doe ik in het interieur.

Daar is het getik (geklapper?) Duidelijk te horen bij koude motor. Overigens, als dat roken doet ie alleen 's ochtends vroeg. Zal wellicht condens in de uitlaat zijn o.i.d.

deed hij dat ook al voor je kleppen gesteld had?
die veren hebben aan beide kanten een klein uitsteeksel die in de gleuf van de stelmoer valt.

Dit is een filmpje van voor het kleppen stellen. Als de veren niet goed zouden zitten dan zou je het toch continue moeten horen? (Dus ook met warme motor)

Afgelopen weekend weer op jacht geweest naar onderdelen. Na zaterdag heel België gezien te hebben heb ik een goede Coupé/280-achterbumper weten te bemachtigen. Het chroom is niet helemaal perfect meer, maar het is stukken beter dan wat er nu onder m'n achterlichten bungelt. Toen zondag "even" naar Nijmegen geweest. Bij Bram (230teee) een zwart dashboard opgehaald, deze ga ik om proberen te toveren naar een blauw dashboard (hierover binnenkort meer). Eenmaal bezig geweest met het dashboard viel mijn oog op een bungelend stuk achterbumper aan een - deels ontmantelde - 280-serie I. Helaas was iemand in de linkerkant van de auto in kwestie gereden. De linkerhoek was dus helemaal vervormd, maar de rechter was nog in een perfecte staat. Ik had thuis nog een houten kachelpaneeltje liggen, dat vonden we allebei wel een mooie ruil. Alles opgepoetst en het chroom blinkt weer als vanouds.

Wat een simpele sticker-swap moest worden, werd een complete "revisie" van de EHBO-doos. Hij was helemaal groenig/zwart uitgeslagen van de zon en er zat allemaal bruine smurrie (teer/nicotine?) in het reliëf. Na 6 lagen ontvetter was dit er gelukkig allemaal vanaf en rook het ding ook weer fris. Toen maar opgeschuurd, een paar lagen SEM Shadow Blue eroverheen en een verse sticker van JesperTichelaar (waarvoor mijn dank) en het doosje ziet er weer fris en fruitig uit.

Netjes weer! Ik heb de mijne ook helemaal gewassen en nieuwe sticker van Jesper op gedaan. Het enige wat ik inderdaad ook nog wel doen is om de EHBO doos te verven: staat op mijn to-do lijstje (wordt al aardig lang zo)

Haha ja dat geloof ik JeePee! Wees gewaarschuwd, als je eenmaal begint met verven, dan wil je niet meer stoppen. Een paar pagina's terug staat dacht ik een link naar Volico, die hebben de juiste kleuren voor MB.

En de bestelde sleutelhanger is ook binnen, geen kans meer op scheuren bij het sleutelgat.

Cockpitspray kan, maar dan krijg je altijd zo'n vette aanslag aan de binnenkant van je ruiten.

Met spuiten heb ik prima ervaringen hoor Hans, gewoon de boel goed ontvetten, licht opschuren, primer erover en dan een paar dunne lagen kleur. Het goed ontvetten/verwijderen van aanslag is daarbij wel erg belangrijk.
