Hallo MB-liefhebbers,

Als nieuwkomer wil ik me graag even voorstellen.
Mijn naam is Marcel Vaassen, woonachtig in het zuiden des lands.
Na zelf 35 jaar lang in een oude Volvo te hebben gereden vorig jaar overgestapt op een W123.
Reden hiervan is dat mijn vrouw 3 jaar geleden een erfenis heeft besteed aan lang gekoesterde wens: een auto met een ster op de grille. Het werd een W108 uit 1967 in perfecte conditie en die nog steeds als nieuw aanvoelt.
Aangezien mijn Volvo op zijn laatste benen liep en de W108 erg overtuigde toch maar eens gaan kijken naar een goede belastingvrije MB.
Mijn oog viel op een Duitse W123 met M110, handbak en carburateur, precies wat ik zocht.
Net voor de grens dicht ging en op de laatste dag dat de RDW nog open was geïmporteerd en op kenteken gezet.
Sindsdien naar volle tevredenheid dagelijks in gebruik.
De oude Volvo is nu met pensioen en wordt momenteel door mijn kinderen opgeknapt.
Daarnaast staat er in de garage nog een Lancia Beta Spider voor klassieker rally's en een DAF 33 Cabrio voor zonnige zondagen.

Leuke voorstelling. Ik wou dat mijn vrouw ook interesse had in een mooie Mercedes, maar toevallig, de enige die ze ooit mooi vond was mijn W108 destijds... bevallig model toch zeker.

De 280 W123 is relatief zeldzaam. Ik had er ook ooit een mooie van 1977, groen metallic met mosgroen Rhombus stof interieur. Was een fijne auto, daar heeft mijn vader later nog jaren in gereden.

Allebei het zelfde kenteken, wel apart.

Welkom, mooie Mercedessen. Zeker de W108.

Goed opgemerkt Willem!
Was daags na de RDW-import keuring.
Was te ongeduldig om op het nieuwe kenteken te wachten, dus de plaat van de W108 er maar even opgehangen...

Zelfde kenteken op 2 auto's ?
Pas maar op voor verklikkers, gaat anders veel geld kosten.

p.s. de schitterende W108 is van 1968.

Geen zorgen, dat dubbele kenteken was maar voor 1 dag. Inmiddels rijdt de W123 braaf met zijn eigen kenteken rond: 68-YD-97, uiteraard ook in passend blauw.

Hoe de RDW aan 1968 voor de W108 komt is me ook een raadsel. We hebben er een ordner bij met alle facturen tot aan de aankoopfactuur uit 1967, op naam van een vrouwelijke hoogleraar uit California. Wellicht dat mijn vrouw daarom zo gecharmeerd was van juist deze auto??

Maakt allemaal niets uit Marcel, je hebt 2 heel mooie auto's en een tevreden vrouw !
