Net terug uit Frankrijk, dus tijd voor een verslagje...

De bestemming was de provence, Zuid Frankrijk. Het was voor mij de eerste keer dat ik zo'n lange reis onderneem met die ouwe W123 maar ik heb alle vertrouwen in mijn trouwe vierwieler.

Voorbereidingen:

Voor het vertrek hemel en aarde bewogen om de airco klaar te krijgen. Ik heb geen zin om op de route du soleil te smelten tussen al die andere gekke Hollanders. Uiteindelijk een een redelijk drama maar het is gelukt! Hoe ik de airco voor elkaar heb gekregen is een verhaal apart, dat komt dus nog.

Verder eigenlijk heel weinig gedaan. In het afgelopen jaar is er al een nieuwe accu ingekomen, dynamo, gloeirelais, koelvloeistof en olie in de motor en automaatbak vervangen, dus ja dan heb je het meeste wel gehad.

Dus gassen! Of beter gezegd dieselen!

Wat is ik dus niet wist, was dat mijn navigatiesysteem mij dwars door de bergen, c.q. de Alpen zou sturen om op de plaats van bestemming te komen...

Dan blijkt ineens dat zo'n 300 diesel niet echt echt een berggeit is. Met een helling van 10% blijkt de snelheid al snel terug te vallen tot een kilometertje of 60. Tuf tuf tuf tuf.....

En maar bochten maken maken, een stuk of 1000.

Gelukkig zaten we lekker koel in de auto. Aircootje aan en frisse drankjes in de koelkast op de achterbank.

Heel veel bergen op en af. Ergens halverwege een van die bergen heb ik besloten dat het tijd wordt voor een turbodiesel.... :lol:

Kwamen we nog langs de Gorges du Verdon. Dat is dus ruim een halve kilometer diep. Dat mos onderin dat zijn in werkelijkheid flinke bomen. En ja, daar klimmen mensen tegen die rotswand op... :shock:

mooi verslag al, lijkt mij ook tof zo'n reis met de oude taart.
Is de airco ook echt koud dan of gewoon koel ? Ik ben wel nieuwsgierig hoe dat nog werkt na al die jaren.

En daar sta je dan op de camping. Wat mij opviel was het totaal ontbreken van klassiekers op de weg. Hier in Den Haag vind je op elke hoek van de straat nog wel een W123 of W124. Dan in Frankrijk helemaal niks gezien. Nou ja op de camping staat nog een mooie groene sedan, een Nederlander. (Wie was dat?) Onderweg geloof ik nog één andere W123 gezien (Nederlander), een Citroen Traction Avant (Nederlander), een Citroen DS (Nederlander). O ja, en nog één Fransman in een Citroen CX Break en wat oude Peugeotjes. Maar toch weinig! Hoe komt dat? In Duitsland lijkt ook alleen maar nieuw spul rond te rijden.

Eenmaal op de camping bleken de matten achterin ineens nogal nat. Vreemde zaak. De matten er uitgehaald en op de auto te drogen gelegd. Toen bleek dat er nog meer en meer water tevoorschijn kwam. Er ontstonden zelfs plasjes!

In mijn ijver om de auto netjes voor de dag te laten komen heb ik het motorblok vlak voor de vakantie afgespoten met een hoge drukreiniger met sop. Ziet er heel mooi uit nu maar blijkbaar is het schutbord met alle droge rubbers toch niet zo waterdicht als ik had gehoopt met als gevolg een sloot water in de auto. Het is ook bijna niet weg te krijgen omdat het tussen de bodem en die afdekplaat daarboven blijft zitten. Het is nog steeds nattig. Dit is allemaal niet zo goed in het kader van roestpreventie. Iemand nog tips om de boel droog te krijgen?

Ik ben in ieder geval begonnen met de auto steeds onder een flinke helling te parkeren en daarna de ontstane plasjes op te dweilen.

mooie trip
ben jaren geleden met een 123 220 d ook in die gebieden geweest en dan nog een caravan erachter dan heb je maar een 3 bak die vierde heb ik daar niet nodig gehad.

maar je 300 moet het daar toch makkelijk kunnen trekken stel je van een turbo nu ook niet te veel voor je moet ook in het toeren gebied blijven als je snel wil dan moet je een moderne wagen nemen veel pk's uit een koffie molen :huh:

Zoals Hans230CE heeft vermeld, je privé zewmbad is afkomstig uit de afvoer van condenswater! Hij is niet verstopt, maar waarschijnlijk is het afvoerslangetje vergaan :shock:

. Voor Airco's gebruikte MB afvoerslangen van schuim ipv rubber en die zullen, na zoveel jaren, lek/verstopt/vergaan zijn.
Mocht dat zo zjin, dan raad ik je aan een stuk slang bij Brezan te kopen (+/- 22 mm doorsnee) en deze op maat te snijden (15 mm lang bijv.) en monteren. Is geen leuke klus, maar dat scheelt veel laswerk aan de bodem van je Merc

Locatie slang: achter de kachel en het afvoergat (in de carrosserie) precies boven de versnellingsbak. Zie foto.

Controleer ook het 2e afvoerslangetje; een dun slangetje dat via het schutbord (passagierskant, naast de aircoslangen) in de motorruimte uitsteekt (achter/onder de accu).

Kortom: 2 verborgen slangetjes met grote lekkagegevaar!

Het probleem komt indirekt uit je tomtom. Het gaat om de snelheidsinformatie die tomtom van de kaartenverkoper krijgt, in dit geval de franse overheid. In Frankrijk denken ze al gauw dat op de meest onooglijke paadjes 90km/h zal gelden ook al zou je bij eerste bocht al in het ravijn liggen. Als je je tomtom in frankrijk op KORSTE route zet ben je helemaal aan de beurt, ik ben meerdere keren vastgelopen op romeinse heerwegen die al 800 jaar niet meer onderhouden waren, midden in graanvelden tot stilstand gekomen of op rotswegen met 25% stijging voor mijn neus. Toegegeven de KORSTE weg, maar alleen voor geiten.
