Op de technische dag, die zeer aangenaam was trouwens waarvoor dank aan Toontje, wou ik nog even snel mijn remblokken bekijken omdat ik vermoedde dat ze binnenkort aan vervanging toe waren. Maandag was het al zover
Vooraan begon het aardig te piepen en ik voelde ook het schrapen van de schijven...

Gisteren namiddag ben ik begonnen met de revisie (auto niet meer gebruikt sinds maandag)
Ik heb onderweg wat foto's getrokken en ging die achteraf allemaal hier posten maar toen ik iets wou checken kwam ik verschillende topics tegen hier over de positie van de zuiger van de achterste remklauwen, ook iets over dat het illegaal zou zijn in bepaalde landen om zelf je remmen te reviseren? Enfin, sommigen onder jullie weten dat ik 11 jaar in het buitenland heb gewoond en ik heb een tijdje als 'mechanicien' gewerkt in een garage in Costa Rica... om een lang verhaal kort te maken: het demonteren/poetsen/hermonteren van de remklauwen wordt ginder in de jungle iets minder nauwkeurig gedaan dan hier me dunkt.
Bijvoorbeeld heb ik de rubbers van de voorste klauwen niet vervangen omdat die nog goed waren maar na het lezen van enkele topics hier ben ik serieus paranoia geworden Is het dan echt zo belangrijk dat je heel nauwkeurig moet zijn en alles vervangen?
Nu ben ik bezig met de achterste klauwen en kom ik info tegen over de positie van de zuigers, even verder zoeken hoe dat in elkaar zit...

Bij mijn weten is het niet illegaal om aan je remmen te werken, maar als je er niet te veel verstand van hebt, kan je het beter niet doen. Remmen zijn best belangrijk. Misschien is het in België anders.

Een remklauwrevisie doe je als de zuiger(s) niet meer werken of als de stofkapjes beschadigd zijn, want dan is er vuil in de remcylinder gekomen. Een niet werkende remzuiger merk je door het niet kunnen terugbewegen van de zuiger en/of een roestige remschijf aan een kant. Soms merk je het ook doordat de auto trekt naar een kant bij het remmen, maar dat is vooral als er iets mis is met de voorste remmen. Vastzittende zuigers heb je vooral aan de achterzijde, omdat daar minder remkracht wordt uitgeoefend. Het probleem wordt nog groter door een rustige rijstijl en gering gebruik van de auto.

Veel remklauwproblemen kunnen worden voorkomen door eens per jaar de wielen te verwijderen, de remblokken uit de klauw te halen, de zaak goed schoon te borstelen en de remblokken voorzien van kopervet (op de achterzijde en zijkanten) terug te plaatsen. Dan kan je meteen de staat van de remschijven controleren (voorgeschreven dikte, geen roestige rand waardoor het wiel kan blokkeren).

Als de zuigers gewoon meebewegen en als de stofkap niet beschadigd is, dan is revisie niet direct noodzakelijk. Als je echter twijfels hebt over de staat van onderhoud van de auto, of als de auto ruime tijd heeft stilgestaan, dan kan een revisie geen kwaad.

De positie van de remzuiger is belangrijk om piepen te voorkomen. De rand van de remzuiger is voor ongeveer 2/3 hoog en voor 1/3 laag. De remzuiger moet onder een bepaalde hoek in de remklauw worden gebracht. Dit is aangegeven op de revisieset van een remklauw, het staat ook in het werkplaatshandboek. De hoge rand moet het eerst tegen het blok duwen gezien vanaf de draairichting van de remschijf.

Voor revisie van de remklauw heb je perslucht nodig om de zuiger eruit te persen en een paar grote lijmklemmen om een zuiger tegen te houden. Ook belangrijk aandachtspunt is om olie en vet ver van de remklauw te houden, want daar kan de remvloeistof niet tegen. Alleen speciaal remmenvet mag gebruikt worden om de zuiger in te vetten.

So far so good, bedankt Govert. Ik heb de remklauwen volledig gedemonteerd omdat ze pokkezwart waren en ik heb mijn wagen nog nooit anders geweten dan naar rechts trekken tijdens het remmen en ik heb hem bijna een jaar, de rubbers waren ook gescheurd dus de beslissing om het helemaal te doen was vlug gemaakt.
Alleen snap ik die stelmaat niet zo goed, is dat gewoon een visuele referentie of moet dat echt op de millimeter juist zitten?
Ik ga nu de voorste klauwen opnieuw afhalen en toch nieuwe rubbers plaatsen, zeker voor het onzekere

Die stelmaat kan je zelf maken van karton ofzo. Het zal niet op de laatste millimeter steken. Het is niet zozeer een veiligheidsaspect, alleen een vermindering van piepen.

Hier is het plaatje nog, het is andersom: de verhoging zit boven.

even over dat naar rechts trekken , als je de klauwen gereviseerd heb en hij trekt daarna nog naar rechts , vervang dan je rem slangetjes , dit weet ik uit ervaring met mijn oude W115 waar dit het euvel was.

Bedankt voor de tip Bob! Ik zag ook een heleboel gruis liggen in het reservoir dus dat heb ik er ook even afgehaald, en alles leeg gepompt (bruine sop) alleen zie ik nu dat er verschillende compartimenten zijn in dat reservoir en de vuldop vult enkel 1 daarvan... iemand hier raad mee?

Deze rubbertjes heb ik uiteindelijk toch niet vervangen, er was echt niks mis mee en na al dat werk van het monteren zag ik het eerlijk gezegd niet echt zitten maar ik heb het setje terwijl ook liggen.

inderdaad, ik heb het licht geschuurd met 800. btw, vandaar mijn uitleg over hoe het in costa rica wordt gedaan nu vlug om remvloeistof...

Ik denk dat ik het aan mijn rekker heb... ik krijg het systeem niet goed ontlucht en na wat zoeken op het forum kom ik vaak 'kapotte hoofdremcilinder' tegen. Rechtsachter begonnen, enkele malen pompen, nippel openen, lucht bubbels eruit, nippel dicht en zo verder tot linksvoor. Na even wachten valt de druk weg op het pedaal en als ik opnieuw begin dan zit er telkens weer lucht in. Ik heb dat verschillende malen herhaald en al meer dan 1L vloeistof door het systeem gepompd op die manier, alle nippels stromen mooi door zonder residu, nergens een lek te zien in de leidingen...
hoe kan ik zeker zijn van wat het probleem is?

Een kapotte hoofdremcylinder merk je doordat je wel remdruk kan opbouwen, maar dat de remdruk wegvalt als je rempedaal ingedrukt houdt. Dat komt omdat de remvloeistof langs de zuiger stroomt. Meestal heb je niet een pedaal die compleet wegvalt.

Vandaag even een ritje gedaan, eerst dacht ik dat er iets fout was maar na een andere aanpak van ontluchten toch de boel goed gekregen. Voordien was de nippel geloten tijdens het pompen, nu heb ik 1 per 1 open gelaten en zag ik al de lucht verwijnen. De druk valt nu niet meer weg na een nacht stilstaan en het pedaal blijft stevig op z'n plaats bij het ingedrukt houden. (zakt dus niet verder in) Het deed wel een beetje raar eerst omdat ik het pedaal nu wat verder kan indrukken dan ik gewend ben en het voelt zacht aan de voet maar het remmen gebeurt directer alsof de afstand van de effectieve remdruk op het pedaal korter is (en zachter) moeilijk uit te leggen. De ultieme test was op de grind van de oprit, in tweede vernelling vol op de remmen en ik kreeg direct 4 mooie gelijke remsporen Hopelijk kan ik volgende week nog hetzelfde zeggen...

Hmm, volgens mij, en daar ben ik toch vrij zeker van, dan moet de nippel gesloten zijn tijdens het pompen
Dan druk op de pedaal, nippeltje open.....nippeltje dicht, en weer pompen.


Heb al wel gelezen dat deze methode de rubbers in de hoohdremcilinder kan beschadigen.

Jup ook zo gedaan op de TD. Pompen, houden, nipppel openen, sluiten en herhalen tot alle lucht weg is.

Beginnen rechts achteraan, dan links achteraan, dan rechts vooraan en dan links.

Als je de klauw uitelkaar haalt, (wat niet wordt aangeraden door MB), zitten er ook 2 rubbertjes tussen. Het probleem is om die nieuwe te scoren. Mercedes verkoopt die niet. Ik heb ook de klauwen uitelkaar gehaald en met deze 2 oude rubbers het geheel in elkaar gezet. Maar je moet wel naderhand controleren of je geen lekkage op die twee helften hebt. Aandraaien heb ik gewoon met de ringsleutel en normaal vastgezet. Niet onnodig zwaar aandraaien. succes.

inderdaad, zo zou je het normaal moeten doen maar aangezien dat bij mij zeeeer lang duurde had ik beslist om het anders te doen. Als je een buisje aansluit op de nippel (eentje van je ruitensproeier systeem past perfect, wel goed kuisen nadien) en het uiteinde daarvan onderdompelt in een flesje met remvloeistof dan kan je de nippel gewoon open laten. Zo zie je 1. Of de vloeistof doorstroomt 2. dat ze proper is of niet en 3. alle belletjes zie je mooi langs het buisje verdwijnen. Wat ik veronderstel is dat je tijdens het pompen met gesloten nippel alle lucht in de leidingen samenbrengt op verschillende plaatsen. De leidingen gaan op en neer, bochtjes enz. dus er kan misschien wel eens lucht blijven hangen waardoor het langer duurt? Met open nippels laat je de vloeistof gewoon doorstromen zonder echt druk te plaatsen op die hoofdremcilinder, niet? Enfin, ik ga straks eens bij de Opel garage in 't dorp een remtestje doen

en voor Orion, die rubbertjes mag je blijkbaar niet verliezen in Costa Rica hadden we een winkel 'centro de mangeras' en die leverden echt alles van rubbertjes, o- ringen, zelfs complete kits... dacht dat het hier in Belgie ook zo zou zijn.
De taxen voor alles wat met transport te maken heeft daar zijn heel hoog, vandaar dat het een complete markt van wisselstukken heeft want ieder component wordt in een garage wel effectief volledig gedemonteerd en hersteld. Iets wat veel garagisten hier in Belgie nog wel kennen van een ver verleden ergens Ik had mijn klauwen al uit elkaar gehaald toen ik ook berichten las over die bewuste rubbertjes dus het was wel even schrikken en geluk dat ze er goed uitzagen. Maar om er even nog bij te zeggen, ze waren niet voor de eerste keer uit elkaar gehaald...
