Ik zie net dat er een beetje water onder mijn auto lag, dacht direct dat de radiotor lekte.
Toen heb ik meteen de motorkap geopend en zag tot mijn grote verbazing dat mijn radiator beschadigd was.
Heb toen nagedacht hoe dat mogelijk was maar kan me helemaal niet voorstellen wat er gebeurd is.
De beschadiging lijkt nogal erg, maar ik weet niet of deze gerepareerd kan worden door bijvoorbeeld ,et wynn's radiator stop leak.

Mijn vraag aan jullie; enig idee hoe deze beschadigd kan worden? Vooral advies wat ermee te doen, het liefst goedkoop i.p.v. een hele radiator te moeten kopen (tweedehands of nieuw)
Naderhand toen ik foto's maakte dacht ik bij mezelf, het lijkt alsof er iemand met een schroevendraaier tussen de gril is gaan rammen. Moet er niet aan denken om een nieuwe/tweedehands radiator aan te schaffen en iemand zou weer zo iets kunnen doen !?

radiatoren versleiten ook. nooit lek stop rommel erin gooien is toch maar tijdelijk en is de grootste rommel om nog ooit uit het koelsysteem te krijgen. een nieuwe (goede)immitatie kost hier rond de 70 euro

Dit is normale slijtage voor een radiateur. Het kan nog erger trouwens. Hoe meer van de ladders zijn verdwenen, hoe minder de koeling is. Koop een goede radiateur, bijvoorbeeld van Behr of een goede originele tweedehands. Kijk ook goed in de radiateur bij tweedehands, als die geroest is, dan kan je het beter niet kopen.

Je kunt de radiateur ook laten reviseren. Dan worden de onder en bovenbak opnieuw gebruikt als ze nog in goede staat zijn en krijg je weer een koperen koelblok in de radiateur.
Kost wellicht meer dan een nieuwe immitatie koeler maar als de nieuwe een aluminium exemplaar zou worden dan zou ik deze niet willen hebben. Ik heb namelijk de ervaring met alu radiateuren dat deze, wanneer de auto gedurende langere tijd niet wordt gebruikt wordt, deze spontaan gaan corroderen.

Echter wanneer Behr een nieuwe koperen koeler kan leveren is dat ook het overwegen waard. denk we dat het koper op dit moment erg duur is dus reken maar op een behoorlijke kostenpost.

De W123 heeft nooit een koperen radiateur gehad. De boven en onderbak van een W123-radiateur zijn van plastic.

Als je gewoon de koelvloeistof elke twee/drie jaar vervangt en op peil houdt, dan hoef je je geen zorgen te maken over roestvorming.

Steek je hoofd maar eens een halfuur uit het raam en je mond open als je aan het cruisen bent met je Benz

Je zal geen honger lijden - om nog maar te zwijgen van het rondvliegend vuil (steentjes e.d.).

Hallo,

Ik heb wat gezocht op het internet en begrijp dat er veel verschillende radiatoren zijn voor de W123.
Hier wat info van mijn auto; Mercedes 250 (1982), benzine, handgeschakeld, geen airco.
Ik ben me aan het oriënteren naar een imitatie, lijkt me beter dan gebruikt. Origineel kost hij 270 euro bij Mercedes.

Mocht iemand een adres of zo weten, hoor ik het graag.

het betreft hier een 300TDT radiator. Ergens in het midden onderaan zie ik het er vrij vlot uitlopen.druppen.
Ik houd me aanbevolen voor een verse (nieuw dan we 2e hands).
Wat is een goed adres voor een nieuw exemplaar?

Let op bij jouw radiator of er onderaan de radiator 2 waterslangen zitten, ik had eerst de verkeerde voor mijn 300TDT met onder 1 aansluiting.
Ik heb een Behr radiator en ben daar dik over tevreden.
De kosten met nieuwe thermostaat en montage was rond de 300 euro maar kwamen hem diezelfde middag brengen vanuit Boedapest (Hongarije) toch 260km naar ons vakantiehuis en dat kost ook geld.

Ja das redelijk he. Ik zit ff te kijken maar ik kom hier in NL uit op 175,- voor een Nissens bij winparts.
Overigens zie ik dat je in Hongarije woont? jaar of wat geleden nog wel eens op vakantie geweest in die wereld... spreekt me wel erg aan moet ik zeggen. Ik was toen in de buurt van Kecskemet en van daaruit richting de Roemeense grens weer naar het noorden. Toen in een kadetje overigens.

Ik bedenk me of het lonend zou zijn om de radiator vanuit Hongarije op te laten sturen....??

Na 10 jaar probleemloos rijden heb ik nu ook waterschade.....
Heb nieuwe radiator besteld.
Ik maak me een beetje zorgen over wat er gaat gebeuren als ik de twee olie-leidingen van de automaat eraf ga schroeven.
Ik wil niet dat de automaat leegloopt of is dat geen probleem. De wagen rijdt erg goed en dat wil graag zo houden.
Heeft iemand een tip wat de beste methode is om zo min mogelijk olie te verliezen?
Of betekent deze actie gewoon: automaat volledig verversen?

uit die slangen komt niet veel olie hoor, wel ophoog houden die mondjes

de radiateur zelf wel afdoppen, daar loopt wel olie uit
misschien zitten er dopjes op de radiateur die je koopt?

Het gaat mij vooral om de olie die evt uit de slangetjes loopt. Dat zal ik zoveel mogelijk proberen te voorkomen.
De olie die uit de radiator loopt beschouw ik als afval en ga ik weer bijvullen. Zal ca 1 liter zijn??

Er loopt ongv 10cl à 15cl olie uit de radiator ongeveer is echt niet veel hoor

is maar 1 antwoord gewoon een nieuwe die gebruikte zijn ook 25 jaar oud

Radiator is nog niet binnen helaas.
Ik heb gezocht maar kan het niet vinden: zit er op het blok nog ergens een aftapplug voor het koelwater, of loopt alles eruit als de plug onderin de radiator open is.
Die laatste heb ik open gedraaid en er komt ca 5 liter uit. Terwijl er ca 10 liter in hoort toch?

Ik had me iets te druk gemaakt: er kwam bijna geen bak-olie uit de olie-leidingetjes.
Minder dan een half koffiekopje.
Ik heb de nieuwe oliekoeler eerst gevuld met nieuwe olie en toen de leidingen weer aangesloten. Dan komt er maar weinig lucht in de leiding.
Daarna water gevuld. Er was ca 4 liter uitgekomen en er ging ca 7 liter in terug. Dus ik was al ca 3 liter "kwijt".
Daarna warmdraaien en nog ietsje bijvullen.
